Anne Surfling

I grew up in the Anglo-Catholic parish of the Church of the Annunciation, Chislehurst.  After a brief and rather boring time as an adolescent atheist I went to Nottingham University to read Theology and receive an Education diploma.  I then taught Religious Education, English and Latin until early retirement enabled me to work in

the archive of the Britten-Pears Library in Aldeburgh, as I still do.

Now, at the age of 78, a sacristan and lay Elder, life feels increasingly like a pilgrimage. The liturgy of the Church’s year and Holy Communion give food for the journey which brings us ever closer to the Lord.  It is that food which strengthens me to act as an Elder, visiting and leading morning prayers.
