Elders - biographies

My Christian faith is very important to me. I know that I couldn’t live the life I do without the love of God who I know is always with me. Even when I have been at my lowest, especially when my husband died so tragically, I have felt the presence of God supporting me and encouraging me to go on. Life is not always easy but I put my trust in God. I have found that prayer is essential – to thank God for the many blessings I have in my life and to help me to make the right decisions in my work and family life.

I met my husband Ken through the Alpha Course that took place in our Church 13 years ago. I know that God is a big part of our relationship.  My work colleagues all respect my faith and I hope I can show by example how the love of God has helped me in my work with vulnerable children and adults.
Ken Smith

I am 60 years old, am married to Fran and have lived in Aldeburgh for over 10 years. I have one son, three step children (2 girls and 1 boy) from Fran’s previous marriage and three step children (2 boys and 1 girl) from my previous marriage.
I was born and spent my formative years in Arkansas in the United States.  It was through my job in the United States Air Force that I first came to England in the early 1970’s and with the exception of 6 years during which I lived in Maryland, I have spent the intervening years in various areas of East Anglia.

During my 20+ years in the US Air Force I worked in both civilian and military hospitals and clinics in the field of Clinical Pathology and Personnel Management.   Since leaving the Air Force, I have been employed at one of the local nuclear power stations where I work as a chemist.
