For most of my professional life I taught languages in a large inner-city comprehensive school. We had children of 42 different nationalities, and shared both secular and sacred events with them.
I fell in love with Aldeburgh on my first visit 40 years ago, and have lived here for 21 of them.
As an Elder I feel both privileged and humbled to be asked to share more closely in the life of the church and its services – reading lessons and helping with some of the services and, above all, administering the chalice at Holy Communion. Surely, “The Lord is here! His Spirit is with us.”

I moved to Aldeburgh from Cambridgeshire in 1994 and became a regular member of the congregation over a period of time, starting with bringing my children to the services for under-fives.
I am married with three children, two of whom sing in the choir. I work at the local Playgroup and have been a school governor for several years, so have a keen interest in how the needs of children can be met within the church and wider community. I particular enjoy helping at the Church’s activity mornings for primary school children and at the “First Steps” services and continue to look for ways to bring the light of God into the lives of our young people.
