Nigel spent the first ten years of his working life in the BBC after a short spell as a teacher.   His communication skills stand him in good stead and have been much employed since his ordination in 1983.   For more than nine years he was the Radio Officer for the Diocese, producing and presenting breakfast shows as well as looking after two small parishes.   He then spent about the same length of time in five parishes in the middle of Suffolk, and moved to Aldeburgh in 2004.   As well as being Vicar of Aldeburgh, Nigel is the Rural Dean of Saxmundham Deanery.   Nigel makes films and is a Master Member of the Institute of Videographers.   He tried to prove that old dogs can learn new tricks as he learned new skills to build our website and most of the photographs on the site are his.  Nigel is married to Jill and they have two grown daughters, one of whom married in the parish church in 2006.   Nigel loves drama and sometimes generates it!

Nigel says of his ministry, “When I began at the BBC the last thing I would have expected would be that I would become a Christian and be called by God to be ordained.  But it’s the best thing that ever happened to me and has led me into a fascinating and exhilarating life which I thoroughly enjoy.   I love working with other people and we have here a wonderful team who give tremendous support to what we do.   I am very privileged to serve God here.”
