Director of Music

and find music to soothe the soul

We are extremely fortunate to have someone as talented as David as our Director of Music.   He is brimming with enthusiasm and good ideas and in the short time he has been in post he has made a real difference to our worship.   To contact David send an email to david@aldeburghparishchurch.org.uk

David Briggs – Director of Music - Biography

David studied singing with Mark Deller (repertoire) and Peter Harrison (voice production) whilst a lay clerk at Ely Cathedral.  He has conducted church choirs, youth choirs, chamber choirs, choral societies and opera groups.  He has also directed children’s music festivals, adjudicated at both children’s and adult festivals and inspected schools’ music provision.  Musical compositions include children’s songs, carols and cantata, a mass setting, as well as several psalms and hymns.

The present challenge for David as our Director of Music is to provide suitable music (traditional and modern) to support our worship at a potentially critical yet exciting time, as we seek to explore new ideas in music within liturgy, in response to the needs of a varied congregation.

Treating others as we would wish to be treated ourselves is very important to me.  I cling to a very simple faith really, namely that in living my life, and especially in my music-making, I strive to give back to God a small part of the immense number of gifts I’ve received, asking “Thy will be done” and “Use me as You will”.
