Alpha in Aldeburgh You may come to church occasionally – to Christingle perhaps or Christmas. Or you may have had your child baptised or been married in church. Or you may not have any current connection with church at all. There is a spiritual dimension to life and you may be ready to explore it. In any of those cases, this course is for you!
Do you need a faith lift? That’s the question posed on the fliers and posters which invite people to join our Alpha course in Aldeburgh. And there’s a whole host more. “Why are we here, what happens when we die, why is there suffering and pain in the world, does God care, does belief in God make a difference, how can I know God?” The Alpha course is designed for those who have questions about life in general and faith in particular. You just have to be prepared to come with an open mind. “Who is Jesus Christ? Why did he come? What did he do?”
Alpha in Aldeburgh starts on Tuesday 5th January 2009 at 7.00 pm in the Church Hall. This is how the evening might look:
7.00 pm We begin by sharing a meal together prepared by the Regatta Restaurant
8.00 pm Nigel introduces the topic of the week in a way designed to provoke discussion
8.20 pm We discuss the topic with those on our table and raise questions we want to ask, with the help of two leaders on each table who have shared the meal with us
8.40 pm Nigel continues and may if appropriate answer or steer onwards some of the more pressing questions
8.50 pm A second chance to discuss
9.15 pm We draw the discussion to a close
9.30 pm The evening ends
